Blessed and Highly Favored
“Boaz took Ruth and she became his wife. And he went in to her, and the Lord caused her to conceive, and she bore a son.” Ruth 4:13
Ruth sacrificed much when she left the land of her birth to enter a place where she was a stranger. She didn’t hesitate to take her place with Naomi, who could only promise an impoverished future. Her sacrificial obedience led her into the field of Boaz, a wealthy man who grew to love her and was more than ready to bring her and Naomi into abundance. Their union produced a son, who continued the unbroken line of King David and eventually, the Messiah. She did not know all of this when she pledged her life on that desert road. She didn’t have to. She trusted in Naomi’s God. She believed He was real and that He was the only true God. God honored her faith.
In 2019, we have the glorious opportunity to walk this road of faith and sacrifice. It’s not easy to follow Jesus. Following Him means living apart from the values of a world that has rejected its Creator God. But if we are to experience an abundant life, we must make the pledge to never turn back, to obey His every command, and finally to live the future He has already designed for us. What about you? Are you ready to walk with Him into life? I am, no matter what the cost.
“…make a decisive dedication of your bodies by presenting all your members and faculties as a living sacrifice, holy (devoted, consecrated) and well pleasing to God, which is your reasonable (rational, intelligent) service and spiritual worship.” Romans 12:1 (Amplified)
