Imagine Mary

Now in the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a town of Galilee named Nazareth, to a girl never having been married and a virgin engaged to be married to a man whose name was Joseph, a descendant of the house of David; and the virgin’s name was Mary.” Luke 2:26-27
I try to imagine what it was like for Mary, who up until the time the angel Gabriel came to her had a normal life. She was soon to be married to Joseph and have her own family at the tender age of sixteen or seventeen. She had no idea what was waiting for her the day Gabriel came calling. God created Mary for this purpose: to be the body through which His Son would come into the world. Mary understood what her role as a Jewish woman
was supposed to be. She had no illusions of greatness. She was like every other girl her age in those days. But she had a responsive spirit and faith in the God of her ancestors that set her apart and made her ready to receive God’s profound call upon her life.
God’s call is upon your life. Are you ready to receive it?
“We are assured and know that God being a partner in their labor, that all things work together and are fitting into a plan for good to and for those who love God and are called according to His purpose and design.” Romans 8:28
